I’ve been trying out Visions Boards for the last year or two… and I really believe they work!

I’m not getting too spiritual on you all, in-fact I’m being logical… Seeing things in your mind and focussing on them helps you to work towards them.

I’m dyslexic which means that I have a visual memory… I learned how to spell through images and rhymes that created memories in my mind rather than just by looking at words. More to explain that on my Mother’s site here if you have no idea what I mean.

When we write down words and look at images / draw images we create paths in our brain that connect those images to our memory. So I have my own way of doing these vision boards…

Doing a physical board and cutting out images and writing out words etc is a great way but an easier way is Pinterest… we all LOVE to pin and it takes no time at all! So I create vision boards on there… and alongside this I have a note pad where I simultaneously write down my goals. This way I have the multi sensory experience of writing down the words which I can look back on and remember in strong bullet like lists. But also a visual, photographic example of these goals too.

As quoted from Huffington post:

“Visualisation is one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do. According to the popular book The Secret, “The law of attraction is forming your entire life experience and it is doing that through your thoughts. When you are visualising, you are emitting a powerful frequency out into the Universe.”

Whether you believe that or not, we know that visualisation works. Olympic athletes have been using it for decades to improve performance, and Psychology Today reported that the brain patterns activated when a weightlifter lifts heavy weights are also similarly activated when the lifter just imagined (visualised) lifting weights.”

I’ve been using an ongoing board over the past year and a half and it’s crazy looking back at it because lots of it has happened since! Here’s the board: https://www.pinterest.co.uk/iamkittycowell/lifestyle-board/

On that board for example is a photo of Gigi Hadid whom I met and interviewed a year ago today… I’ve only just looked back at this board and realised this! MAD!

Also on that board are lots of images of make up and perfumes. Until this year I hadn’t worked with beauty brands at all. This year I have worked with so many and I now have sooo many perfumes and so much make up, and I’m utterly grateful for it all.

So I’m making a specific 2018 Vision Board now on Pinterest which I can add to. Some of the goals are big and some are small and really simple but I feel like some of the smaller ones are the hardest for me to reach.

Below is some of the imagery I’m putting on it:

I hope this blog post has made the whole concept of vision boards simple and appealing.
