Okay so I’m starting a new blog series about Punk Rock / Rock / Metal…
I’m a huge punk rock, metal, rock n roll etc… enthusiast and I find it hard to keep up to date with these days…
So I’m going to start blogging I dunno every month I guess on what’s coming up: gigs, merch, new releases, movies, club nights!
First up I went to the Heavy Music Awards the other day (it was awesome!). I saw a preview of two documentaries coming out soon… One was Slipknot and the other was Black Sabbath… they look dope!
Here’s the Slipknot ‘Day of the Gusano‘ trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n0GRckCptQ
You can see the movie for one night only on September 6th in select UK cinemas.
Black Sabbath: ‘The End Of The End’ will be shown in cinemas for one night only, on September 28 this year, also. Here’s the trailer for that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQNzODHOurw
This one night only thing is just making the whole experience so much better. Just like when Fu Fighters did a similar release and it was the best experience in the cinema like… ever… or well it ruled.
Here’s me at the awards with Bluebell Wooi and Amy Valentine.
Metal Bingo. Yep that’s right I’ve found out there’s a Metal Bingo night in London! It isn’t until October but it sounds great. The mighty Metal Bingo lands in London for their first string of events.
Imagine bingo but instead of bingo balls they’ve replaced them with badass metal tunes.
Pink Floyd have an exhibition at the V&A Museum and it looks fantastic. Experience a spectacular and unparalleled audio-visual journey through Pink Floyd’s unique and extraordinary worlds, chronicling the music, design and staging of the band, from their debut in the 1960s through to the present day. Tickets are around £20-24 until October 1st.
There’s a Back to the 2000’s Nu Metal Party. Hosted in Camden at Lock 17 again this isn’y until October 13th but it looks like a massive throwback that needs to be attended! Think Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, Linken Park…
EMP website is KILLING IT. So I only recently came across this brand who make a massive amount of band and movie merchandise. They were one of the main sponsors for The Heavy Music Awards. They have everything from Motorhead Bikini’s to Slipknot denim jackets and Jack from the Never Ending Story onesies… Enough said right!?
New Found Glory are playing in October! One of my favourite bands in the world are playing but it’s sold out. Have you managed to get a ticket? More info here.
THNKS FOR THE MMRS Emo Clubnight at the Amersham Arms on September 23rd looks like a winner. Tickets are just £3 in advance or £4 on the door and you can expect lots of AFI / All Time Low / Avril Lavigne / Blink 182 / Brand New / Cobra Starship / Dashboard Confessional / Fall Out Boy etc…!
Creeper are taking over… Yeah if you haven’t heard of this band yet, you better go start catching up because the whole world is starting to fall in love with them. Think AFI, My Chemical Romance vibes. They headlined the Heavy Music Awards and blew my tits off!
Check out their new single here and they have a tour in December.
The Theatre Of Fear Tour, December:
3rd – Glasgow ABC, 4th – Birmingham Institute, 5th – Bristol Trinity, 7th – London Shepherds Bush Empire, 9th – Manchester Albert Hall, 10th – Southampton Guildhall
Tickets are on general sale now from Livenation.co.uk and Ticketmaster.co.uk.
Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes are going on tour with support from Basement. Which sounds absolutely dreamy to me! It’s not until December but you know how these things work, they sell out asap so I guess we all need to know now. Tickets here.
Lastly I think my favourite band right now are Neck Deep. They released their new album ‘The Peace and Panic’ a few weeks ago and I can NOT stop listening to it. The lyrics are SO relatable, they are very New Found Glory esq’ but the new album has a slightly rockier radio friendly edge to their heavily Pop Punk sound. They are most definitely a feel good band that will make you fist pump – what’s not to like?!
So I think right now that’s a good line up, I mean there’s tones more gigs happening like Every Time I Die, Marilyn Manson, Trapped Under Ice, Puppy, Eighteen Visions etc… If you have any ideas or tips of things you think I might want to know about / include in the next post hit me up!
