I talk about mental health a lot online, I’ve spoken about it on youtube and from time to time here on my blog.

People seem to really interact with this subject and I know I for one have read blogs about it, watched videos etc. Basically I turn to the internet or books when I want to learn more about mental health issues, causes and solutions.

So I’m going to try and talk more about it, with these small bitesized blog posts featuring some hopefully, helpful affirmations which you can download and save and repeat to yourself daily/weekly etc.

1 -Learn to be YOU.

If we have any insecurities, which is normal, you might find it hard to truly be yourself. Ultimately being ‘yourself’ means accepting who you are; flaws and all. And that really is part of the key to happiness.

If there’s something you don’t like – accept it or change it. For example if you want to drop a few pounds, it’s totally OK to do that in a healthy way through a healthy diet and more exercise.

If you hate your job, or hair – start looking into what you would prefer and move towards changing that. You can always change things, even if it sounds scary, anything is possible – it just might take a while. Enjoy the process in the meantime.

If you can’t change something easily, for example your eye colour, nose, how tall yo are etc… Just ACCEPT IT! It’s amazing, no one is the same and that is what makes life so interesting. If all my friends were the same, how would I choose to spend my time equally amongst them?

Difference is cool, and once you realise that life gets way better! SO BE MORE YOU. Cos YOU is AWESOME.

2 – Comparison is evil.

Find your focus so you don’t have to compare yourself to others all the time.

If you have no clue what you are doing, you will always be looking at what others are doing, and comparing yourself. And that’s NOT GOOD. You are not them, so why compare?

If you aren’t sure what you want to do, go try out lots of things! It will be fun, you can share the experience with others and that way you will ultimately find something you want to do, if even for a bit.

I had no clue what I was doing for years, I drifted from music to fashion until finally I found styling and blogging. Without all the previous jobs and experiences I would never have found my dream career!

The fun is in the process of finding your purpose, and then life gets even more awesome once you find out what it is…

3 – Learn to live in the NOW.

Eckhart Tolle’s book ‘The Power Of Now’ is currently changing my life. It’s all about how we are constantly living in the worries of the past, and the fear of the future and never NOW, which is literally the only thing that exists!

It blew my mind how simple that statement was, but how real it is.

Learning to accept the moment and live with it, enjoy it and work with it, is literally life changing.

I was always worried; ‘but what if that happens again?’ or ‘if I do that now, what will happen in the future?’ The most crazy thing is the past and the future do not exist. The only time that exists is NOW. Yes we should learn from the past, and plan for what we might like in the future. But we have to live now, otherwise we are constantly living in fear and pain of what has happened or what might, even though it isn’t even happening now!

And what if something bad happens NOW? Well he teaches that you accept the current situation and work with it rather than against it.

I highly recommend reading the book to learn more.

I hope these statements/affirmations have been of some help to you.

Let me know on instagram or in the comments here if you would like to read more of these.
