Todays outfit post is all about the balance between casual and dressy. To be honest I’m always looking for balance but usually it’s more smart / casual but today has the added touch of ‘dressy.’
I wanted to A) – be summer friendly as it’s super warm in London right now! And B) – look acceptable for cocktails with friends but also be comfortable and not overly dressy.
I’m a really big fan of logo tape on clothing; the most common example for this is Calvin Klein underwear. This bralette from Bjorn Borg has the added extra of mesh panels too, making it look a bit more of a statement piece than just a crop / bra. Can you wear these out in public? Well I think in the right occasions yes and also if you layer them like I have done here it gives you the same effect without feeling too naked!
Also high waisted bottoms will help – if your belly button is out you are going to look a bit too exposed. These comfy but smart lined trousers from Uniqlo do the job and keep the casual balance as they aren’t skin tight. They are also SUPER cool on a sunny day.
I always like a coat / jacket but in summer obviously it can be too hot for one. My favourite way of combatting that problem is sleeveless jackets in summer. I especially like sleeveless duster coats as they add a smart touch to any outfit, especially alongside a handbag. I decided to go a bit fun and wear a fluffy one to keep my outfit personal to me and slightly fun/edgy. I would feeling a bit boring if I didn’t do this… but that’s just me!
The final touch of-course are my satin Nike TN’s. The pastel balance is continued from my baby blue bag to my pastel lilac/pink satin Nike TN trainers. The satin finish helps to keep the look clean and smart but also young and fun…and comfy! Can not forget about being comfy.
