I had the pleasure of staying over at one of London’s most covetable Hotels: The Hoxton in dreamy East London’s Shoreditch.
I couldn’t just review it though, I had to shoot a fashion editorial while I was there, of-course!
This post however is both the review and editorial (see below). I like to make the most of good locations…!
So the Hotel; it’s very pretty. In the heart of Shoreditch between Shoreditch High street and Old Street and on the access route of lots of busses, it’s pretty convenient for getting to East London or Central.
The Hotel has a lot to offer including meeting rooms like The Apartment which is literally a little apartment with a kitchen and dining table which leads onto a living room style space. There’s a bar and restaurant space which is vast with a centre piece Conservatory style room. Which I chose to eat inside at dinner.
Each room is a well presented space with everything you need and no hidden bullshit, that’s right… The mini bar had water and milk which comes with the room at no extra cost. And downstairs there’s a convenience store with decently priced snacks, as well as room service of-course.
The bed was really comfortable and large. Annoyingly the plug sockets weren’t working besides the bed but thankfully they have lots of plug sockets around the bedroom so it wasn’t a problem, and for mehaving lots of plug sockets is so key. I’m always carrying 1-2 mobile phones and a camera and often a laptop…! That was just bad luck but I let them know and they were onto it as I left.
The lighting around the bathroom and bedroom mirrors really helped make the dreary winter London light more manageable. I love a lit mirror and it’s great not only for getting ready but also photos…of course!
The desk space enclosed everything you may need including a kettle, hairdryer, notepad etc…
Food both downstairs and room service really lived up to the Hotel’s reputation. I’m gluten free and vegetarian so I’m pretty hard to feed, but they were able to make me a really great veggie burger and amazing fries. I tell you what I’m a chips connoisseur, I might have to start a Youtube channel about that… I’ve eaten so many in incredible places because one carb I can eat is potato! So my opinion on good chips is pretty valid. Thy even went as far as to search for which of their spirits were gluten free to make me a cocktail. I later had a gluten free plum crumble in my bedroom while watching Blue Planet and I was quite frankly content as can be. The fact I could eat a crumble and have it delivered to me room was pretty exciting… when you are allergic to foods you are easily content when you are able to eat them all of a sudden!
The bathroom was big enough and really nicely laid out with a spacious and really good shower. Power is key and the shower has both a handheld and overhead function which were both incredibly powerful and useful.
