Frills and bralettes are having a moment in SS17 and as per my usual style I like to take a womenswear trend and mix it with menswear/streetwear.

Have you worn a frill before? There’s something about it that makes you feel flamboyant and adventurous, even when it’s subtle. But the word frill has its connotations; school socks and flowery dresses you were made to wear as a child. Fear not though we aren’t going back to those days, the frill has been repurposed from our faint childhood memories to a fabulous high fashion trend.

I’ve kept the colours minimal; a monochrome outfit with a hint of pastel blue. and gone mad with the aesthetics. Frills meets lace meets sports logos meets check on check…

I like the juxtaposition of sportswear and skate shoes, something that wasn’t meant to be put together but looks great. The layering of the bralette over the frilled blouse gives the top an edgier vibe. By putting check and check in the same outfit could be awful but by keeping them on separate parts of my body, one on my top half and one on my feet I’ve eliminated the overkill.

And to finish the look it had to be a simple choker to tie in with the Vans and give it a little punk rock touch.
